A Review on Reducing Jitter and Power in Phase Locked Loop
نویسندگان
چکیده
Jitter is extremely important in PLL based systems. The effects of jitter range from not having any effect on system operation to rendering the system completely non-functional. Reducing Jitter and power supply is one way to help to improve the system performance. This review will concentrate on jitter and power supply in PLL building blocks. Dual Phase Detector Based Delay Locked Loop for High Speed Applications
In this paper a new architecture for delay locked loops will be presented. One of problems in phase-frequency detectors (PFD) is static phase offset or reset path delay. The proposed structure decreases the jitter resulted from PFD by switching two PFDs. In this new architecture, a conventional PFD is used before locking of DLL to decrease the amount of phase difference between input and outpu...

Almost all logic systems have a main clock signal in order to provide a common timing reference for all of the components in the system. Supporting the highest bandwidth data rates among devices requires advanced clock management technology such as delay-locked loops (DLLs). The DLL circuitry allows for very precise synchronization of external and internal clocks. In this paper a low jitter and...
متن کاملHigh Speed Delay-Locked Loop for Multiple Clock Phase Generation
In this paper, a high speed delay-locked loop (DLL) architecture ispresented which can be employed in high frequency applications. In order to design the new architecture, a new mixed structure is presented for phase detector (PD) and charge pump (CP) which canbe triggered by double edges of the input signals. In addition, the blind zone is removed due to the elimination of reset signal. Theref...
متن کاملA new PLL design for clock management applications
In this paper we describe a novel Phase-Locked Loop (PLL) design for clock management applications. Such PLLs should operate over a wide range of frequencies, have tight constraints on jitter, power consumption and acquisition time, while being dynamically programmable by software means. In addition to the conventional fine tuning loop, the PLL has a coarse tuning loop to control the operating ...
متن کاملA 4.9-GHz Low Power, Low Jitter, LC Phase Locked Loop
This paper presents a low power, low jitter LC phase locked loop (PLL) which has been designed and fabricated in a commercial 0.25-μm Silicon-on-Sapphire CMOS technology. Random jitter and deterministic jitter of the PLL are 1.3 ps and 7.5 ps, respectively. The measured tuning range, from 4.6 to 5.0 GHz, is narrower than the expected one, from 3.8 to 5.0 GHz. The narrow tuning range issue has b...
